How Does Tixel Work?
Tixel is a handheld device with a sterile titanium tip, which features 81 small pyramids.
The pyramids on the handpiece’s tip reach a controlled temperature of 400°C and move at a precise speed. When they touch the skin, their thermal energy creates fractional superficial ablation in the form of coagulation zones. Skin contact only lasts a few milliseconds, ensuring that the skin is quite safe.
This process is called Thermo-Mechanical Action (TMA). TMA encourages increased production of collagen and elastin in the skin tissues for regeneration and tightening.
Am I a Good Candidate?
The best candidates for Tixel are patients looking for a way to safely and effectively improve the look of skin on the neck, face (including areas around the eyes), and décolletage. It can smooth away wrinkles on the upper lip (perioral lip lines) and around the sides of the nose. Tixel can be used to treat dry eyes. Additionally, Tixel can even treat certain stretch marks.
Tixel is safe for all skin types. Patients with tanned skin may not be ideal for treatment.
The Consultation
A Tixel consultation involves a discussion of the patient’s aesthetic goals and the skin issues they would like to address. The skin is carefully examined, and the patient’s complete medical history is evaluated. This includes past treatments, current medications, allergies, and pre-existing conditions.

The Treatment Session
Usually, Tixel treatment sessions only take around 20 minutes, making it a convenient lunch-break procedure. First, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the targeted area. When low or medium settings are being used, numbing cream may not be necessary.
Next, the handpiece is placed against the treatment areas and guided across them evenly. This process is quite simple. When the regions have been treated, the session is complete.
After a Tixel Treatment Session
Unlike surgery, Tixel does not require any recovery time. The intensity of the treatment session will determine the required downtime, which can range from no downtime to two days.
Redness, swelling, and heat sensations may be present for a short time after treatment. Micro-crusting may also be noticeable. Patients must wait until the following day before applying makeup.
A few days after the Tixel session, the skin begins to appear more vibrant. Typically, patients must come in for three to four sessions, and patients must wait a month between each treatment session. Results are long-lasting.
